Cruise Ship Jobs - Crystal CruisesBack to All Cruise Lines Profiles Register for Cruise Ship Jobs Now! Crystal Cruises is top-of-the-line company, offering glamorous cruising experience to high-income sophisticated guests. The cruise line operates two of the most beautiful and best designed cruise ships afloat with diverse itineraries around the globe. Crystal Cruises was created in 1988 as a brand and wholly owned subsidiary of the large Japanese shipping company Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) with two ships - Crystal Harmony and Crystal Symphony. The cruise line's original vessel Crystal Harmony was transferred to the parent company NYK and renamed Asuka 2 as a part of Asuka Cruises' fleet. The current Crystal Cruises fleet consists of two ships - Crystal Symphony and the 1,080 passengers Crystal Serenity, which entered service in June, 2003. Crystal Cruises offers an intriguing hybrid style of cruise experience. The line is decidedly upscale, but its ships, unlike its luxury niche competitors (Silversea Cruises, Seabourn Cruises and SeaDream Yacht Club) are relatively large, carrying 940 plus guests. In March 2015, NYK announced that it was selling Crystal Cruises to Genting Hong Kong (GHK), the owner of Star Cruises and a major shareholder in Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings. Simultaneously, NYK announced that Crystal Cruises would be building a new ship, but did not provide any specifics, such as the new ship's size, or date of entry into service. GHK has confirmed that it would provide financial resources to build the new ship according to the highest standard in luxury cruise ships. Considering the type of guests and the prices they are paying, Crystal Cruises is expecting from it's employees nothing short of absolutely impeccable service. This is the cruise line with the highest rate of returning crew and for the people considering a career in the cruise industry, this is one of the very best companies to work for.
